"There are simply no words to express how heavy my heart is at the news of the passing of my friend, brother and colleague Rod Temperton. It all starts with the song, and Rod was one of my go to songwriters. He was one of the best, period. Not just for Michael, but for James Ingram, Patti Austin, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Herbie Hancock, and a host of others. His creativity just never stopped. He had an excellent compositional instinct and wrote great music because he had absorbed it to such an extent that it just came straight out of him as if it were second nature. He wrote three songs for Thriller…”Baby Be Mine,” “The Lady in My Life” and “Thriller”; and wrote the Vincent Price intro to “Thriller” in the car on the way from the airport to the studio. To say his talent was insane is an understatement. He was the best friend and brother you could ever work with, and I will forever treasure our friendship and all those decades together in the studio." -Quincy Jones

R.I.P. to Rod Temperton :(

I know 66 is old to a lot of you, but I thought Rod Temperton was a hell of a lot older than 66.
I always loved this dude, his first 2 albums with Heatwave (Too Hot to Handle and Central Heating) were the sound track of my youth, back when each act had their own sound.

Then of course he went on to great fame for the work he did with Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones.

R.I.P.

Here's a video of him and the original Heatwave lineup performing. I'm pretty sure I was conceived to this song (Pops always grabs moms up when this song played)

It's sad, but it also paves the way for the next crop of legends

No Danny no...

Think of all the brilliant comics that replaced George Carlin or Rich... oh wait, nevermind.

Many of the famous and talented people that died this year are legendary genius in SO many regards, there will NEVER be equivalents to step into their shoes. These generations simply lack the innovation to push as far. Its a shame but its the truth.
