Legendary artist Fats Domino has died age 89, according to local reports from New Orleans.

The American singer, pianist and recording artist pioneered rock and roll and inspired countless artists, including Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Local TV station WWL-TV cited his daughter as the person to confirm his death, saying he died peacefully surrounded by family.

Antoine 'Fats' Domino was born in New Orleans LA, in the lower ninth ward on 26 February 1928.

The youngest of eight siblings, as a teenager he did odd jobs including working on an ice truck and at the Crescent City Bed Factory.

RIP....what's sad is a rock n roll founding father was still living and you hardly his name mentioned but a few second class misfit kill themselves or a drummer/or band member passes it's on the front page.

We gotta honor our own....

What u speaking on sounds great in theory. First off R.I.P to a true Pioneer in Fats Domino .

R.I.P.
I think after hurricane Katrina there was a scare because he was nowhere to be found for a while and people thought he may have been killed, but then he was located.

Yeah...I remember this vividly.

Buddy survived that sh!t and lived on more than a decade.

I ain't askin' why no more.

This board has writers and producers.

I want to "stick it" to the man.

There need to be individual biopics of Chick Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, and Ike Turner.

I mean dig deep in the crates and archives.

Then run a movie or documentary on how their careers ran concurrent/overlapped and take jabs and plugs at aaaaaaaaalllllllll the white rock groups to let them know they are the children/byproduct of the rock n roll movement, and not the progenitors.

F*ck the Beach Boys, or, whoever the first major white group was.

I'm done.

We love you Fats!

I'm 65 years old and he is one of the first artists I remember. Him, Little Richard, Chuck Berry & Ike Turner are the cornerstones of all of today's music. Without them there is no Rock & Roll, R&B, or Rap. To have a music discussion without their names being mentioned isn't worth having. RIP Mr. Domino.
