stay away from Nassua and hit one of the out islands, i go to Eleuthera every year for vacation. If you are going to Nassua you might as well stay at Atlantis, and just be a tourist, it is the bomb with lots to do and usually can find someone who has a timeshare they are not using. Bahamas is cool but if you're going to spend the money I'd hit the DR.
freeport was really cool. there's a lot of activities to do and there's even a casino there called Casino at the Radisson Grand Lucayan. you should also check out zorba's greek restaurant

Each island is surrounded by the most beautiful turquoise colored warm water.

Nassau is actually 2 islands joined by a tall as bridge or by boat.
The population lives on Providence Island. It's a 3rd World country. There is the Queens Staircase which was carved out of stone by enslaved brothers. A fort on a hill and beaches and bars and all kinds of high shopping on the main street. All water sports can be done on the island. Supposedly yes can buy diamonds cheaper than anywhere else. Just get downtown and walk around and eat and drink.
The rich folk's playground is Paradise Island. It feels like being in Dubai or somewhere for the rich and famous. Home to Atlantis and other high end mansions and giant yachts. Atlantis is a spectacle to behold but not worth the price.
Grand Bahamas island is a shipping port island. Not that touristy.
Bahamians are hustlers and they ain't bashful to sell you a ride, food or souvenirs. I have been offered both weed and bitches while walking down the street.
I've been to Nassau 6x in the last 10 years and never had a bad stay or experience. Felt safe as shit but I blend right in with the population. My nephew went out to a club with his bi racial female friend and she got bullied.

Just got back from Paradise Island for a long weekend with wifey. The beach was incredible. Got to watch the fight for foree at a lounge bar at the hotel. The sports book at that casino was closed for a "special event" party. Caught a cab to downtown to check out the jewlery stores and the straw market to look and pick up suveniers. The "fish fry" area was nice. We ate at Twin Brothers.

Lol you do not have to stay at the Atlantis. If you're going with your wife, stay at Sandals resort and take the $1.25 bus ride to downtown and take the boat to the Atlantis for one day. It's nothing but an expensive ass place. I was there last year and I just came back from Montego Bay on Saturday. MoBay shits in them all.

You could also stay at the Riu next door and take a 30 second walk over to the atlantis. Thats what my wife and i did one year...we; slept, used the beach and ocassionally ate at our hotel...but spent the majority of our time at the Atlantis using their facilities...the waterpark, the restaurants, the casino, nightclub, aquarium etc.
