Aside from Fruit and Vegetables, is there anything y'all would recommend that is good for snacking on? Anything low sodium, sugar free stuff would be good...

- Healthy whole grain and/or whole wheat, low sodium crackers

- Chopped veggies. Carrots / tomatoes / red and green peppers / cucumber / and so on

- Fruit smoothies (especially if you've bought an excess amount of fruit you're not sure you can fully use up in time)

- Unsalted nuts. Or say ... appropriate amounts of homemade muffins

- HOMEMADE baked goods (try experimenting or fucking around in the kitchen ... or seeing if any of your fam' are good at same ... and substitute in stevia OR organic and/or unsweetened apple sauce into recipes INSTEAD/IN PLACE OF sugar. Also see if you can use WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR too. ). Stuff like muffins / banana bread / etc.

- Rice cakes

- Whole wheat / organic / 12-grain / gluten-free type bread -----> TOAST with a little low-fat peanut butter

- Healthy cereal. Try stuff like low-fat Bran Flakes or Fibre First with a SMALL amount of skim milk

-Reduced fat crackers (like wheat thins)
-Unsalted pretezels
-Natural (unsweetened) applesauce
-Pudding cups

That's all I can think of non fruit or vegetable for now. I snack on more fruits and vegetables myself.

hummus

I had a sandwich with hummus not too long ago, so I picked some up at the store. It's pretty good.

It's great (homemade or store-bought) with whole grain bread / toast / pita and excellent for dipping vegetables and healthy crackers.

Another great spread = BABA GHANOUJ.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baba_ghanoush

Wiki - "Baba Ghanoush or Baba-Ganouj (Arabic بابا غنوج), babaganuş, eggplant salad (Turkish), melitzanosalata (Greek μελιτζανοσαλάτα) is a kind of popular Middle Eastern dish made primarily of eggplant (aubergine), mashed, and mixed with various seasonings."

Aside from Fruit and Vegetables...

I let that statement slide before. It came back to me as I was having a snack tonight.

What's up with that?

I'm bitin' into this really juicy Bartlett Pear, thinking, "This is the shyte right heah!" They are $0.99/lb. this week at ShopRite. I also bought Black seedless grapes at $1.99/lb., and big juicy strawberries at $1.49/lb. That's in addition to the navel oranges and red delicious apples that I bought at regular prices.

Fresh fruit IS the ultimate snack!
Don't brush fruit "aside". :smh:
