I remember checking out the Ab Ripper X post (http://198.65.131.81/board/showthread.php?t=175046) from a while back and it looks like something to try out. Just wanted to see some feedback from the fam about it.

my only issue is, unless i'm doing it wrong, the exercises really work the groin muscles hard as well... haven't really pushed it because of that, i didn't realize how much the groin muscles and abdominals are really connected...

I've been following the p90x workout for about two weeks. I've lost about 7 lbs. Ab Ripper X is an intense workout. They recommend that you do it after an hour circuit training session, but I usually do it first.

For real!!!! I did the plyometrics one and I was shut down on any of the other workouts for a couple of days. Maybe I'm just out of shape, but some guidelines would help tremendously.

Yeah this workout isn't made to get you into shape. It's for people that are already fit and want to get better.
I'll post the fitness guide that lays out when you're supposed to do each workout later on today. But if you had to rest for a few days after the plyometrics workout then I wouldn't recommend this program yet. You're only supposed to get 1 rest day a week.

I've been on P90X for a few months and trust me it works. But just as with anything in life it takes discipline. The workouts are setup for fit people who want to get over that last hump. If you are just starting out, what I did was start with the Cardio workout, which is a "best of" kind of workout that combines elements of the other ones (a little Plyo, a little Kenpo, Yoga, and Core). Do that workout MWF the first week, that should warm you up to going up to 4-5 days the next week or more.
Depending on your goals, you can focus on the strength routines (three days) and mix in one or two or three cardio workouts depending on your fitness level and your schedule. I'll typically do the three strength days plus Yoga (which I didn't realize is an excellent workout), and Kenpo. Those two are excellent all around supplementary workouts. If you have back problems mix in the Core workout once or twice a week. Plyo is very advanced so work up to that. And of course Ab Ripper on every strength day.
Finally, you'll have to make sure your diet is disciplined enough to support the workout. The recovery drink they sell at their web site is good. Drink a lot of water, a lot of protein, etc. But once you get into it, your body will start demanding a better diet. You'll want to eat right because you'll be so damn worked that you won't want to waste what you put in by eating junk. And you'll have to eat a lot in order to have the calories because it'll take a lot out of you.
Once you do the workouts for a few weeks you'll see and feel the results, you'll have more energy for it, and you can start customizing the workout any way you want.

Ok here it is. I put the Nutrition Guides, Fitness Guides (pg.9 is where it starts explaining when you do each routine), and the calendar and worksheets that come with the dvds all in a .zip file. Instead of printing out that calendar, there's also a folder named "Power90X_Blank_v1.3" which includes an Excel spreadsheet that's set-up perfectly for this program. I won't go into detail here because it explains everything on the spreadsheet but USE IT. It's very helpful. Here's the link for everything:

Ok So I Gave Props Before I Dl'ed, But I Had To Give'em again. Great Favor You Did For Us Here. Also Thanks To Those Who Posted Extra Documentation.
These Vids Look Intense, But You Can Take It A Little Easy And Build You Way Up. I'm In Pretty Ok Shape, Boxing and Weights 3 Times A Week, But I Can Tell P90x Is Gonna Really Be Something.
The Real Problem Isn't Necessarily Sticking With The Workouts, But Rather The Diet. That Is Being Able To Afford The Diet. I Can Eat Healthy Food All Day Long, But The Shit Can Be Pricey.
Eating Well Takes Money. Eating Like Shit...a Few Bucks.
I'm Gonna Have To Put Anywhere From $50-$100 Dollars A Week On Healthy Groceries Alone.
Looking Forward To It Though. Once You Really Start To See Results, You Stay Motivated Longer.

OK fellas...It took me a while and this is a result of long hard searching but finally after some months here it is. This is one of three 'paths' for P90X: The classic rotation.

I curse Tony Horton through every workout but the shit has been working so far.

I have the nutrition plan and workout sheets plus a couple other loose docs for it too. Still working on finding the "doubles"/ "Pro-Athlete" rotation and the Lean/cardio rotation. Hit me up if you want the others i guess. Happy working out...The plyometric routine still has me walking funny but the the Ab ripper X is something serious. I curse Tony Horton through every workout but the shit has been working so far.
Hey Ras... appreciate that rotation. I'd love whatever else you may have. The P90x is a serious workout. I'm hating it and loving it at the same time.

Maybe I'm out of shape and didn't know it but this PX90 series is NO JOKE! I bought it from the infomercial a month ago and all I can say is I'm glad I started it during my month vacation. My arms hurt for a week after the first DVD.

I don't think this workout will help you bulk up. If you want to get ripped though.... go for it. I've done it for 3 months and it works.

If you are of the slim build you can use this to bulk up but you got to follow a few basic principles. Use heavy weights/bands and do less reps. This will add more bulk and size. Also you want to minimise the the amount of time in between reps. The more you push yourself to your limit, the more your muscles will have to work and the more stress they will be under. This will force greater break down on muscle tissue and rebuilding. In FitnessRx magazine there are many articles on working out to failure. The more latic acid you build up and the harder you push without rest the higher the levels of post-workout testosterone and natural Growth hormone production. That means more muscle mass. Know when to stop though, its not about going overboard, just going to that limit. Also consume alot of good protein (no soy) and creatine phosphate. One of the side effects of creatine consumption is muscle gain.

Yes it is. But it get less hard...not 'easier' as you go along. I am just finishing my second month/phase and the plyometrics routine still roughs me up. I am not cut yet like all of those in the infomercials, but I am without a doubt a whole lot fitter. I found myself randomly jogging recently and I hate running. P90x is something serious and it will hurt and you may not be able to finish routine for about a couple weeks. Just keep doing them. Also most importantly eat right. All this working out isn't going to mean much if you still are eating wrong. Also get some Creatine phosphate and whey protein because you will need it. I hit a wall after 3 weeks and these supplements helped me recover and get through the workouts that much better.

I've been following the p90x workout for about two weeks. I've lost about 7 lbs. Ab Ripper X is an intense workout. They recommend that you do it after an hour circuit training session, but I usually do it first.
Yeah the ab ripper is a bit rough but after the first week you are good to go. Me and my girl were on it about 2 weeks strong but my work started to get hectic and threw me off, plus I started playing sports again. Getting back on it after X-mas.
Yes saw results but I always see fast results, been playing sports since 7, my girl saw slight results.
If you are overweight, change the plan to suit you, do more plyometrics and that tae bo thing they have on there. Mix with ab ripper and good to go. Already in shape, use the chest, arms, back, ab ripper, lil bit of that ploymetric.
Gotta get bands and a dumbell set and you are straight.
I also got a push-up-pro for when I dont have time to do them long ass tapes. Its great!!!!:yes:
